There is a sleep that is called the sleep of death. The gospel cries out, “Wake up, sleeper!” The resurrection of Jesus has power to raise those who are in the sleep of death. It calls out, “Christ will give you light from your dark deeds. He will give you life from your death. Awake! A new order has come. Sin and death do not have the final word. Let Jesus’ resurrection be your resurrection to a new world.”
Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” Ephesians 5:11-14 (NASB)
