Jesus taught us how to put our enemies in their place, the place of honor, love and respect.  He did not condone knocking them out or even putting them down.  Instead of going to war with them, Jesus bowed to them on a cross and brought them into the victory that He won for them. On the cross God submits to the cruelty of His enemies and turns it into their redemption.  Who would have ever thought of saving your enemies by suffering love, laying down your life?  That is still God’s idea for all of His followers, according to Brother Paul.

“‘If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.’ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:20-21 (NRSV)
