“Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph” (Exodus 1:8).

There is a big problem that comes from forgetting Joseph.  Joseph had changed Egypt and the fate of his own kinsman.  But the time came when his name and influence were no longer remembered.  His influence lasted for hundreds of years until it was forgotten.  When Joseph was forgotten the people were brought into slavery.  This eventually brought disaster on the forgetters.  Captive and captor suffered because of it.  Jesus is the second Joseph who saves all of the earth from famine and death.  He must be kept at the forefront of our memory, for us and all the people He came to save.
