Grief comes to us with the losses that occur in our lives.  The loss of a spouse, a marriage, health, a job, and multiple other losses can plunge us into grief’s pain.  Grief does not come alone; it brings with it an array of emotions.  We don’t go around it; we go through it.  We do not get over it; we learn to live with it.  It is not easy.  We survive by faith, and being empowered by grace, we can learn to thrive.  When our props are gone, we learn to lean on the Lord.

Holy Father, help us to accept what we do not want.  Help us to embrace a fresh brokenness and a new humility as we feel the pain of a fallen world.  May we use it as an opportunity of fellowship with Jesus by feeling a bit of the pain He felt.  Help us to know how to be there for our grieving friends.  Amen!
