Someone has astutely stated, “Life is what happens while you are making other plans.”  Life has a way of turning our plans on their head.  A death, a divorce, a disaster, a diagnosis has a way of changing everything.  A lost job, a sick parent, a troubled child, or grandchildren to raise puts a new twist in our plans.  All of these things cause us to readjust to new realities.  They call us to deeper surrenders.  They call us to a level of trusting God with our lives that we heretofore may not have had.

Lord, we like to plan so we can be in charge of what we want.  We like to be in the driver’s seat.  May the unexpected changes in our life not trip us up, but may they be opportunities for more complete surrenders.  Oh Potter, we give ourselves fully to You for reshaping.  Amen!
