Unity matters to the Father; it matters so much He sent His Son on a gathering mission. Jesus came to save Jew and Gentile, male and female, black and white, brown and yellow, poor and rich, etc.; He came to unite then into one family. Parents want unity and harmony among their children. They love it when they are all gathered together with love for each other. Our Heavenly Father wants no less; His church was to be that. Yet, we divide ourselves by categories of rich and poor, smart and dumb, lords and slaves; we allow politics to sow hate, we demonize those not like us; we think our race, class, knowledge, etc. makes us superior to others; these we put down or ostracize. Our Father mourns all these divisions in the human family. Satan sows discord and disunity. Satan’s imitators are dividers; the children of the Father are peacemakers (Matthew 5:9).
“Making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.” (Ephesians 1:9-10 ESV)
