Forgiveness is such a wonderful thing.  It is freeing to know that God in His mercy has released you from the penalty of your sins by His gracious mercy when you confessed.  You are free to live in obedience in a new start, not condemned by your old, sorry record.  Certainly there is more to being a Christian than forgiveness, but this is the beginning.  This sets us up for a gratifying love relationship with the God whom we offended.

“How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered!  …For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer. I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin.” Psalm 32:1, 4-5 (NASB)
