“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11 NLT).  John said that he wrote his epistle “that you may not sin” (1 John 2:1).  Both OT and NT were given to help us avoid the practice of sinning; the Bible was given to enable us to see sin, and by that light, walk another way.  We are too quick to excuse the practice and even rationalize why we do it.  No, we do not believe in “sinless perfection” but we do believe that Jesus has broken the power of sin over our lives and we are no longer to be its slave (Romans 6).  The Son has broken the chains and made us free; the Spirit empowers victorious living.
