Patience is more than something we generate; it something of the Spirit to which we yield.  It is a God-check in our soul to move us away from haste and presumption; it moves us back from angry harsh reactions.  He teaches us to wait.  He teaches us that we are not in control of the outcomes which may come. He teaches us to not run roughshod over people who have very different perspectives than ours.  To live in the Spirit is to live in patience.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23a NASB).
