A big strong man picks up an infant with gentle touch, controlling his strength so as not to hurt the baby.  It does not pay to use a “strong hand” in dealing with others.  The world is full of folks who are deeply wounded.  They need to feel the same gentleness that a child felt in the arms of Jesus.  As a matter of fact, the failure to be gentle may even drive some soul away from His receiving arms. Actions generate reactions.  Is the Spirit in you?  Is He producing in you the fruit of gentleness?  Is He helping to change the rough ways in which you have been schooled?  Does He need to do a deeper work in your personality?

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23a NASB).
