There is a deception that precedes sin and a deception that follows it.  The former we think about but the latter we don’t.  When one sins, the deception that follows can come from the Accuser or it can come from one’s own rationale.  These deceptions are all designed to avoid responsibility or to minimize the sin.  We blame it on others, the pressures of the moment, and the many things going on in our lives.  Take responsibility; own your actions.  We also need to deal with the things in our heart that are really behind the act.  We confess not only the sin, but get to the root of why we did it and confess that too.  In this way we can begin to move beyond forgiveness and experience healing.  The soul needs to be made whole.

“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7 ESV).
