We sometimes want God to do the work in the world that He has asked us to do.  We question why He doesn’t act when He could rightfully question why we don’t act.   Our prayers should align us with the God who is already at work in the world and in the lives of all the people for whom we pray; His grace is at work in them and they are embraced by His love.  Our prayers should join us to the work that God is already doing in the hearts and minds of all people.  The works of God in the world are the fruit of God’s prayers.  To move with God’s work in the world is to answer Christ’s intercession.  It is to pray for what He prays, but it is also to work for what He prays.”  (From “The Self-Talk of God”, by H. Lamar Smith)
