You do not have to be flawless to walk with Jesus nor work for Him.  His love is not conditioned on us being flawless.  He does not pretend you are perfect by looking at you through His Son.  He is not self-deceived.  This theory is based on the premise that a perfect God can only love the perfect/holy.  No!  A thousand times, No!   He received sinners.  He ate with them.  He went to parties with them.  He loves us in spite of our imperfections.  He who commands us to love the flawed, even our enemies, has already practiced what He is asking us to do.  He loves flawed me; He loves flawed thee.

“For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 (NASB)
