When the church was despised, it turned the world upside down; when it sought to be accepted by the world, it was turned upside down.  When it had no power, it was powerful; when it sought recognition and influence with the rulers, it became weak, shorn of its locks.  When the church was without silver and gold, by prayer it summoned and received power from her King.  She turned away from the world; she knew her own weakness, then and there, and only there, she became “terrible as an army with banners”.

“And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, ‘These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also, and Jason has received them, and they are all acting against the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.’” (Acts 17:6–7 ESV)
