We are not yet loving like Jesus when we let the flaws of the loved hinder us.  We are turned off by unreturned love; Jesus is not.  We see foibles; we see unsightly wounds.  We remember old harsh words; we feel past hurtful actions.  Rather than loving, we use all these things to justify our non-love, so we protest to a listening ear of what was said, done, and felt.  Even opposing opinions can shut our love down.  Let us again relish and recover the love we received at Calvary, by giving it away.

“The Father gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.  If you only love those who love you, what reward is there for that?  Even corrupt folks do that much.”  Matthew 5:45–46 Paraphrase
