A few months ago I was visiting a local nursing home and was surprised to see an old family friend there from about 25 miles away.  I went over to visit with him a bit.  I asked him if he was a resident there.  He said,“ No, I am just here visiting folks.”  (Later, the nurse confirmed otherwise).  My friend had dementia, had lost his wife a few years before.  In his mind the statement was true.  Reflecting on that, I thought about what a great mental attitude that was.  He saw his role, not as a resident, but as one who was there visiting and encouraging the other residents.  Two weeks ago I saw a new grave in the cemetery that was his.  I learned that he had died of Covid-19.  May we all live to help somebody.  May God bless your memory, Jerry White.

Lord, wherever we are may we find ways to minister to those around us.  Amen!
