Advent Glimpses of our Future

“In everyone’s heart stirs a great homesickness” (Rabbi Seymour Siegel).  Home!  Home place!  These words stir something in us.  We have learned, as much as we wish contrarily, that you never can go back home.  It is never the same; the folks that made it home have long gone.  Yet, the homesickness lingers.  We find that there is no place that will finally heal it.  It is because something higher, Someone higher is drawing us.  We are made for our Father; He is our home.  We all long for that place with Him.  He longs for us as we long for Him.  Then we will be home at last.

“For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.  And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another.”  (Job 19:25–27a ESV)

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” John 14:1–3 (ESV)
