“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:11-13 ESV). Some think that holy living can only occur if we are cloistered away from the world in isolation. The Scriptures call us to godly living even when we are surrounded by a culture of ungodliness. We can live pure and holy lives when worldly passions are running rampant around us. You and I are called to live holy lives in this present age, this world in which we find ourselves. Grace teaches that; the Spirit empowers that. Draw from the One who overcame the world and He will help you to overcome.
