Paul’s alternative to being drunk with wine is “Singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.”  The greatness of our God has called out songs from the hearts of God’s people down through the ages.  Good theology is essential for sound doctrine, but a song is essential for worship.  We need to soar in song.  Let your spirit be inspired by His Spirit to sing.  Your soul needs it.

“Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.  And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:18-20 (NLT2)
