To be the lord and king of the cemetery is no great complement to that lord or king.  It would be cause for the mockery of such a king.  In the case of the biblical witness, we read that “God is not God of the dead, but of the living.”  Those who are His are very much alive even as we speak.  Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:24-25).  Take heart; those who are absent from the body and present with the Lord are more alive than when they walked the face of this earth.  Our Lord is Life, gives life and reigns over the living. Hallelujah!

But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.” (Luke 20:37–38 ESV).
