Ministry and acts of righteousness must keep Christ at the very center. Matthew 6:1-18 solemnly warns us of acts of righteousness that are self-centered; this kind of righteousness is not righteousness at all. If our motive is to put ourselves in the center it ceases to be real ministry. If we receive any acclaim for our ministry, we must immediately transfer the glory to the Lamb, for He alone is worthy. If we receive it for ourselves it will rot our souls.
Lord, save us from a ministry that tries to make a name for ourselves. Save us from subtle shifts in motives that can mar our souls. May all we do be done to meet the needs of others and to serve You and You alone. Amen!
