The actions of Christians become theological statements about our God. When we align our lives with the teachings of Jesus, we become ambassadors, reconcilers, healers and peacemakers whose lives represent God in winsome ways. When we do not align our lives with the teachings of Jesus, the actions flowing out of that are messages about the nature of the One we claim to follow; our lives become a kind of theological heresy. That message, that misrepresentation of our Lord, serves to tarnish His name. When we live unkindly, unjustly, unrighteously, it takes His name in vain; we make a God-statement. When we become self-seeking takers, power loving, we create God-rejecters in our wake.
“Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2 Timothy 2:19b NKJV)
