If God had weighed my flaws, numbered my sins, counted my selfish ways, and reckoned my deceit then I would be “without hope and without God” now and forever. I was far from Him because of my sin. I was far from being a descendent of Israel. I was on the outside looking in, wondering what would happen to me, when He opened a door called mercy, hinged on grace. It swung wide open and I found myself enveloped by love that said, “You too belong here.”
“Remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:12-13 (NASB)
