In some quarters, there is a pessimistic view of ever really living a holy life. What we must understand is that our loving Father has provided everything we need to live holy and godly lives. The cleansing of the Son, the abiding of the Holy Spirit, and the great promises of God’s word come together as unfailing resources toward living Christlike/holy lives. This holiness does not originate with us but comes from partaking of the very nature of God. That He would share the precious Essence of who He is with washed sinners truly boggles my mind.
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” 2 Peter 1:3-4 (ESV)
