The coming of the wise men to worship Jesus conceals a prophecy that we have not yet fully grasped. It is an advanced picture of all kings and kingdoms bowing before King Jesus. It is about Gentiles coming to bow before a Jewish King; the OT prophecies speak often of that. Jesus Kingship is global and universal; His kingdom goes beyond provincial and national. The kneeling of the wise men is a snapshot of every knee bowing before the Lordship of King Jesus.
“And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh” (Matthew 2:11 ESV).
