Jesus spent forty days in our wilderness, tempted like we are tempted, showing us how to win over it. The story of Jesus’ wilderness test is not there merely for us to celebrate our Hero. It is there to help us understand what the incarnation meant. It is there to remind us that we do not have to yield to temptation. Our life does not have to be dominated by Satan nor sin. Our Messiah King won His battle over sin. With Him inside our heart, we can win that battle also.
“For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:15-16 (NASB)
