The shepherds heard the amazing announcement of the arrival of the Christ-child. They were told that the baby would be found “wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger”. But which manger? There were sheepfolds and mangers everywhere in Bethlehem. These shepherds would have known the location of all of them. They were looking for the one that had a baby in a sheep feeding trough, so they had to peep into a lot of sheepfolds that night. This was the earthly confirming sign of a heavenly message. Christ is in us and comes to us in unlikely places and in the last and least of these (Matthew 25:37-40). Our heavenly messages are confirmed in mangers and markets, streets and shops, schools and sick rooms, churches and clubs, and more places than we can imagine. Keep peeping in these places and you will discover Him.
“For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” Luke 2:11-14 (NASB)
