The long expected Messiah has arrived.  The One who will culminate history, the One who will eventually set all things right.  Great news!  Not to everyone!  When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him” (Matthew 2:3 ESV).  Herod, the self-centered bully, felt threatened.  He would do anything to stay in power.  The elite in Jerusalem, the allies of corrupt power, were concerned as well.  The citizens of Jerusalem were frightened about what Rome could do to the peace and prosperity that they enjoyed.  If our heart is not right, or seeking to be made right, good news will not sound good.
