We live in a distractive era of human history.  The multiplication of information is overwhelming us; technological devices are consuming us, leaving chaos in their wake.  Our devices have become more important than people we should be loving on.  Self-discipline on these things is increasingly absent.  (Lord help me!).  Good is not good when it takes the place of the best.  That which is innocent is no longer innocent when it turns us aside from a higher calling.  Be not turned aside from loving God first and foremost and loving those God has placed in your path as your own self.

Suzanna Wesley gave John this spiritual advice: “Whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God or takes off the relish of spiritual things; in short, whatever increases the strength and authority of your body over your mind, that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may be in itself.”
