Elisha’s servant saw that he and the prophet were surrounded by a threatening army.  What he did not see was the invisible hosts of heaven’s armies coming to their aid.  “Then Elisha prayed and said, ‘O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.’ And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2 Kings 6:17, NASB).  We see the threat, but we do not see heaven’s forces marshaled to help us.  We see who is against us, but not always who is for us.

Lord, open our eyes to heaven’s help, lest our circumstances frighten and discourage us.
