Money is not the only way to measure wealth. Consider: family, shelter, adequate food, health, freedom, etc. Do not compare what you have to the millionaires but to the poor of this earth. Most of the world would consider a pound of rice a day a luxury. Most of us have much more than we need. We are wealthy, and do not know it. To belong to the One who owns it all is to be wealthy beyond our wildest dreams. Stop comparing and be thankful.
“Thus says the LORD: Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom, do not let the mighty boast in their might, do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth; but let those who boast boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the LORD; I act with steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the LORD.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NRSV)
