Habakkuk was terrified because of the impending invasion of his country, but he said, “I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” We know we are to give unconditional love even to our enemies, but do we know that we are to give unconditional love and praise to our God? Job said, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him” (Job 13:15a). Though the diagnosis is not good, the pantry empty, and the checking account depleted, I will still love, trust and praise my God.
“Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls, yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NASB)
