The Holy Spirit is our immediate personal connection with the Father and the Son. He is our Guide to truth. The Spirit cannot lead us contrary to the will of God. He does not guide us contrary to His Word. We are resourced by the combined counsel of the Father, Son and Spirit. The goal is that He will guide us collectively “into all the truth”. None of us owns the truth; we are owned by the truth. Without God’s truth we always lose our way.
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you” John 16:13-15.
