Truth brings clarity. Lies bring confusion. God brings order out of chaos. Satan delights in bringing chaos out of order. God is not the “author of confusion” (I Corinthians 14:33), but Satan is. When sin becomes a fad and unrighteousness a status symbol, a deep rot has set in. This is the way of the world when ruled by the prince of darkness. Inside the Kingdom and the church it must be another way. It is not our job to straighten out the world/culture, but it is our job to see that we are thinking and acting rightly as the people of God; it is our job to live holy and righteous lives in the midst of it all. We are to be lights in the darkness.
“Be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world.” (Philippians 2:14b-15 NRSV)
