We all know someone who has trouble trusting because of rejection, betrayal or abuse. Trust matters in all human relationships. We trust those who prepare our food, sell us products, protect our lives, preserve our health, and the list goes on and on. Trust matters. Trust leans on truth. When truth does not matter, trust disappears. Trust goes absent when manipulation is present. Trust lies trampled when injustice stomps down the street. Lost trust takes time to be restored. An environment of trust will not be restored until integrity and character are restored.
Father, forgive us when others have trusted us and we failed them. May we extend that same forgiveness to those who have let us down. Help us in the church to be a community of faithful and trustworthy ones.
