John wrote of this Trinitarian fellowship in these words, “That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3 ESV). The fellowship within the community of faith includes fellowship with the community of the Trinity. This takes fellowship to a level far beyond having a good time with fellow believers; this is nothing less than a community in which God dwells. This forever transforms our view of the church; it significantly changes our worldview. It deepens worship and leaves shallow worship behind as an inadequate substitute.
