God is not a lone monad in the universe; He never has been. God is community of Father, Son and Spirit; it has always been so. From all eternity the Son addressed the Father as His Abba; it was and is a familial relationship. We are invited to that when the Holy Spirit, Who is both the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Jesus, was sent to us to draw us into this ultimate of all families. Hear it fresh from these words, “And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba! Father!” (Galatians 4:6 ESV). Think about it for a moment! Think of that to which you have been invited! Think of being able, by the Spirit, to address the Father as “Abba” in the same way the Son does. Think how the Spirit is inviting us into the embrace of the Father. Are you in awe yet? Are you worshipping yet?
