We cannot fix that which God alone can fix.  We cannot fix other people, though we keep trying.  We cannot control what they do, say or think.  We live with the consequences of other’s choices and actions.  It is not easy and is often devastating.  What we can do is pray, not only for the other person, but for our own reactions.  Our lives grow toward maturity, not in the perfectly controlled environment of a greenhouse, but in the imperfection of human relationships.

Father, we all want a problem-free life, but we find that it always escapes us.  We feel we could grow better if that were the case.  You are teaching us another way: growth in the midst of our problems.  Father, thanks for being patient with us in these and all things.  Amen.
