“He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:3 (ESV). The Psalmist compares a righteous person to a fruitful tree. He is fruitful because he has chosen not to walk, stand or sit in the way of the ungodly, sinners and scoffers. Instead, he delights in and meditates on the law of the Lord. We thrive based on what we reject and what we choose.
