Most of us are familiar with the call to Peter and Andrew, “Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men” (Mk 1:17). We are not as familiar with the fact that having returned to their nets they were in need of a recommissioning. This time, the word was, “Feed my sheep” (Jn 21:16-17). As the risen Christ called them back to their vocation, so in grace He comes to you today and says, “I have work for you to do. Don’t get sidetracked into your personal pursuits. I still need you for the work I have appointed you to do. I still have folks for you to mentor, love and encourage. I have lambs that need care.”
