“In Christ” is a relational statement. It is not static. It is dynamic. It is living out the solidarity that Jesus instituted in the incarnation. It is getting out of ourselves, into Him. This is more than positional standing; it is more than a judicial pardon. Relationships are far too personal for that. The Judge has become Savior and Friend by His indwelling Spirit. You can’t get closer than that. “In Christ” is learning to live in intimacy and mystery with the One who has always been one with the Father; it moves us from an earthly realm to a heavenly realm.
“And raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6 ESV).
