Studying is a way of shaping and training the mind. It should be a way of arming ourselves with better tools; when rightly processed, it will make our thinking clearer and more truthful. Good biblical and theological thinking is the duty of all who follow Christ. What we believe about Him is what really matters. Our belief should ever be growing and expanding. Meditation is a form of thinking about truth. It is brooding over some truth until it hatches in our mind new insights. It is the way we “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18a NASB). Here, knowledge is the companion of grace and a means of growth.
“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able.” 1 Corinthians 3:1-2 (NASB)
