The love of God is like a great heat source; the closer we get to Him the warmer we feel. John was the disciple who grasped the love of Jesus more because he was close enough to hear His heart beat. Out of that intimacy he proclaimed one of the greatest insights of human history, “God is love.” He was close enough to know it. Draw near! The evidence that we are born of Him is that we truly love and share the warmth.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8 (NASB)
