Advent Glimpses of our Future
Advent is the anticipation of our promised future in the return of Jesus Christ. We will explore these glimpses in the following devotionals during this Advent season.
The disciples stood gazing at the ascending Christ. Like a little boy watching his kite go out of sight, so they strained their eyes to get one more glimpse of Him ascending through the clouds. Then two angels reminded them of His return. The comforting promise was that “this same Jesus” will return someday. The same One that had revealed the Father to them, the same One that had given them unshaken hope by His resurrection was coming back. Never forget that this same Jesus, who changed your life, the who walks with you today by His Spirit, is returning just as He went away. Blessed hope! Glorious Day!
“And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9–11 (ESV)
