The past has a way of intruding into our present. There is nothing about it that we can change, though we bear its scars and try to learn its lessons. The past was gone one second ago. The future starts one second from now. The present, this moving moment between the past and the future, is where we must find and meet God. The decisions we make in this moment is where we develop character. This is where we can prove that we are not stuck, but are moving on. This moving moment is where we meet God. This is where we decide to trust and obey today better than yesterday. This is where we hold His hand and let His Spirit guide us in all the moments that follow, making them sacred.
“Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13b-14 (ESV)
