The existence of the church, and one’s personal faith, is not threatened by the decline in the secular culture. The church fails when it ceases to be what it is supposed to be in the world. It is not destroyed by the world and cannot be. The church was born in the midst of pagan cultures where everything was against it. Look at Corinth. Our problem is, we have forgotten how to be the church in a hostile world. We have allowed accommodation to dilute the message. The world is not here to prop up us nor our message.
“If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.” John 15:18-19 (NASB)
