We push our way to the front of the line; Jesus works His way to the back. We claw our way to the top; He finds His way to the bottom. We want to be found in the company of the great ones; Jesus wants to be found among the “least of these.” We scramble up, hoping to arrive at some coveted throne; He lies down to have nails driven into His hands and feet. In our competitive climb, it is sometimes at the expense of those under our feet; in redemption He lifts up those below Him to become His brothers and sisters. We love to be served; He loved to serve. To follow Jesus as the Way is to follow His methods.
“If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.” Luke 9:23-24 (NASB)
