Christ was dehumanized on the cross, but yet displayed there the perfect human, the ideal man. A kind person would not treat an animal as He was treated on the cross, much less a fellow human. Having said that, even though He was dehumanized we see how a God-like human is to respond to such ill treatment. On the cross, God turned the other cheek and went the second mile. He forgave the unforgivable and accepted the unacceptable. He did that to redeem us; He did it to show us how to do it.
Jesus, You came to show us God, but when we look at You we see what we are to become. We see what it means to be human when we are restored to Your likeness. Amen!
