The cross is Abraham’s God walking the split pieces of the divided sacrifice; He was saying, “If this covenant is ever broken, I will take the price of it on Myself. In the cross we see Noah’s God “who repented (regretted) that He ever made man” (Genesis 6:6) working it all out on the cross. God takes responsibility for His frail humans and invests sacrificial love into their recovery. Can you fathom such love? Can you appreciate such compassion? Can you worship before such mercy?
“When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram.” Genesis 15:17-18a (NIV)
