“On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords” Revelation 19:16 (ESV). We have not yet grasped the huge political implications of Jesus being King and of His government (i.e. Kingdom). The Romans saw their Caesars as immortal sons of God. Jesus demonstrated by His own resurrection that He alone was Lord. The lords and kings have a Lord and King; He is Jesus. The other governments of earth will become like the dust of the summer threshing floor (Daniel 2:35). Our focus on the governments of men can eclipse our vision of the Kingdom of God. Our focus on the Kingdom of God will put the passing politics and government of men in their rightful place. He alone is “the ruler of the kings of the earth” (Revelation 1:5).
“He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.” 1 Timothy 6:15b-16 (NASB)
